UPDATE!
CM Cook and Gordon also provided $1,200 for back-to-school supplies. Mayor and Council should know by now that I was sued by the City for requesting that $1,500 be used for back-to-school supplies in addition to receiving an ethics violations. I won the Court case because the Judge stated that I did not have the authority to authorize the Finance Director to do anything and he should have known that paying the money was a gratuity. I have been writing and telling this to every Council since then and yet, nothing has changed and the gratuities continue. Mayor and Council are not in any position to reprimand the City Manager for failure to direct his Staff to adhere to the gratuity clause when they are the ones violating the gratuity clause! I am checking to see what legal or civil recourse residents have for restitution since there is legal precendence on file for the City of East in this matter. What advice is our City Attorney giving to Mayor and Council and who is not following it? I believe several small claims can be made against all of the guilty parties for $5,000 and under. We might have to go to a higher court for those over $5000. It is defintely time to do something to stop this partying/political payoffs by our elected officials using taxpayers money. It is also time to find out why the City Manager and the Finance Director are not adhereing to their oaths of office and fiduciary responsibilities.

East Point Mayor and Council Members have had a record number of “social and partying events” using taxpayers money since July 1, 2018, to the present date. Below are the last two events that I know about. No other administration has been so free with spending taxpayers money on a small select group of residents. One was for a volunteer banquet. The other one was for an event for Tri-Cities High School. Click Here: ORR 954-2019 (Tri-Cities) CM Gordon
